Mercedes-Benz is preparing a smaller G-Class with the rumors wanting to model (codenamed X247) to be called either GLG, or GLB, and to be presented in autumn of 2019. It will be built on the same platform as the new A-Class, which is expected in the spring of 2018 and it will be able carry up to seven people. The entry-level version of the G-Class, will have front wheel drive, with four-wheel drive to be included on the extra equipment.

It will also be available with an off-road package and it will be equipped with the same engines as the A-and B-Class between which there would be a 1.6 liter gasoline engine producing 122 hp, a 2.0 liter petrol producing 156 hp and 211 hp, a 1.8 liter producing 109 hp and a 2.1-liter diesel producing 136, 170 and 204 hp.
