One year ago the Chinese company Dongfeng Motor Group together with the French government bought a 14% stake in the PSA Group, with the new joint venture to be called Dongfeng Peugeot Citroën Automobiles (DPCA).
The first car of the Dongfeng Peugeot Citroën Automobiles is the Fengshen L60, which began its production on March 2 in the Wuhan factory of DPCA. The significance of the model is great as the company has ambitions to sell 1.5 million cars in China and all over Asia until 2020, only in 2014 DPCA sold 704,000 vehicles in China, an increase of 28% compared with 2013!
The Dongfeng Fengshen L60 is an inexpensive mid-sized sedan developed by the two companies. The DPCA was responsible for the management of the project, the development of the model, the supply of the parts and the components, while PSA provided the technical support.
The Dongfeng Fengshen L60 is based on the PF2 platform of the PSA and it will be offered with a 1.6 liter engine producing 115 hp and a 1.8 liter producing 137 hp. The engines are available with a 5-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic, with the car to be available in the next two months through the network of Fengshen dealerships.
