Honda will present at the New York auto show, the electric and hybrid versions of the Clarity. The Clarity EV and Clarity PHEV will start their sales in the coming months.
The Clarity EV will have an autonomy of just 80 miles. According to the company, this is not a drawback, but a result of choices during the development of the project, since the company wanted to have batteries that do not cost much.
The electric Clarity is expected to costs about $35,000 without any tax incentives. With this in mind, Honda says that there was no room to place a bigger battery, that would make the car heavier and more expensive.
The Clarity Plug-In Hybrid will be available in all the States towards the end of 2017, with Honda expecting that this version will be the most popular of the two, offering an electric range greater than 40 miles.
