Jaguar Land Rover announced that they are developing a new series of safety systems aimed at reducing the number of accidents caused by drivers that have impaired attention while driving.
The project is called ‘Sixth Sense’, with the company stating that they are developing the Mind Sense system, which tries to read the brain waves of the driver to determine if he is tired, distracted, or if something is distracting his attention.
If it finds out that one of the above mentioned cases is true, then it will vibrate the steering wheel and pedals to warn him and if the driver still fails to respond, then the system will take additional measures to ensure the safety of the driver. The system will be able to read the brain waves of the driver, by using sensors embedded in the steering wheel.
