Stephan Winkelmann, the head of Lamborghini and Maurizio Reggiani, the head of R & D of the brand, confirmed that the Urus will be equipped with a 4 liter twin-turbo V8 engine.
Reggiani said:
Both in acceleration and in off-roading, it is important to have high amounts of torque and to move as rapidly as possible, being able to get out of a difficult situations easily. We decided that a turbo engine for a super sport SUV is the best option. The engine must be lightweight and strong, with ample low-end torque, allowing the car to be “flexible” in every situation.
Reggiani added that the engine will not used by any other company of the Volkswagen Group, while Winkelmann, said that there is a possibility that the comapny will launch a plug-in hybrid version of the car
