Mercedes-Benz is preparing electric models that will be built on a new platform, which will be called EVA and will share many parts with the MRA platform used by the C-Class, E-Class and S-Class. The platform will be able to accommodate batteries weighing up to 400 kilos.

The first model that will use the EVA platform will go on sale in 2018 and it will be positioned between the C-Class and E-Class. Soon after the company will present a crossover that will be placed between the GLC and GLE and after it two models will follow, one in the size of the S-Class and a crossover larger than the GLS.
The platform will allow the cars to be either rear wheel drive or four-wheel drive, with the electric motor to be able to produce more than 400 hp in the rear-wheel drive versions, while the four-wheel drive cars will make use of an additional motor, which will produce up to 200 hp. The electric models of Mercedes-Benz will have an active suspension, a torque vectoring system and an innovative energy recovery system. The aim of the German company is to sell 20,000 electric units annually for each electric model.
