Michelin Tweel gets the green light for production

Michelin announced that the Tweel, their airless tire will move into production and that it will be manufactured in a special factory built by Michelin in Piedmont, USA

So far, the Tweel does not find applications in our daily cars but it will be available for loaders and some models of lawnmowers. The tire uses a central portion of steel and rays from poly-resin for supporting the tread. Of course, because there is no air in the tire, there is no chance of puncture while a further advantage in accordance with Michelin is that the lifetime of the Tweel is three times compared with a conventional tire.
