The concept is an evolution of the XR-PHEV presented at the 2013 Tokyo auto show, there are minor changes, compared to the car presented in 2013, such as the bottom of the grille, the slightly different lights and the mirrors.

The plug-in hybrid vehicle combines a conventional gasoline engine with an all-new electric motor producing 163 hp, getting power from a 12 kW battery. According to Mitsubishi, the system gives the vehicle “high horsepower and torque” while remaining economical and ecological, since its emissions do not exceed 40 grams of CO2 per kilometer.

The Concept XR-PHEV II automatically switches from electric to hybrid, depending on road conditions and the battery level while there are three driving modes: manual,Battery Save and Battery Charge.
