New electric car acceleration record

A group of 30 students of the ETH Zurich University and Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Art in Zurich broke the 0-100 km/h acceleration record with their own purely electric Formula Student car.

New electric car acceleration record

The electric racing car is equipped with four motors, one in each wheel, which yield a total of 200 hp with 1.630 Nm torque. The group of students has developed an advanced traction control system that controls torque individually to each wheel so as to maximize the acceleration of the 168 kg car. The car did the 0-100 km/h in 1.785 seconds in less than 30 meters, breaking the previous record of 2.134 seconds.
