Mercedes-Benz officially announced that it is changing the names of some models. The A, B, C, E and S-Class, together with CLA, CLS and SL will retain their names as they are today, but the SUV lineup will have new names, which will better reflect their size.
All SUV models will start with the name GL with a letter follow. The smallest model is the GLA, the GLK will be renamed GLC. The M-Class will be named GLE, the ML Coupe will be called GLE Coupe and the GL-Class will be renamed to GLS.
The SLK will also change name and will be called SLC, with Mercedes-Benz to use the lower case letters c, d, e and h for vehicles powered by c for compressed natural gas, d for diesel, e for electric, f for fuel cell and h for hybrid.
