At the 1993 Geneva Motor Show, BMW presented the Z13 concept, that had an engine on the rear and three seats, while it weighted only 830 kilos.

The car was equipped with a 1.2 liter engine producing 82 hp. It had a satellite navigation system, a telephone and a high-end audio system.
The Z13 was a fully functional prototype and it was designed and developed to be passed on production, but in 1994 BMW bought Rover, which owned Mini. This put priority to the regeneration of Mini and pushed aside the Z13.
