In 2005 Ford presented the Shelby GR-1, which unfortunately never went in production. The car was equipped with a 6.4 liter V10 engine producing 605 hp with 679 Nm of torque, combined with a 6-speed manual transmission. It could do the 0-100 km/h in less than 4.0 seconds and it had a top speed of 320 km/h.

The car was presented at the Detroit auto show in 2005 and its design was inspired by the design of the Shelby Daytona. It was based on the Ford Shelby Cobra Concept and it wore the aluminum chassis of the Ford GT.
