In 1972 Fiat presented at the Turin auto show the X1/23 Concept, a small, city car, designed by the designers of the Centro Stile Fiat.

The car was equipped with an electric motor of 14 kW (19 hp), that was sending the power to the front wheels. The engine was powered by a nickel-zinc battery, placed on the back. The car had energy recovery system when braking and it could catch a top speed of 72 km/h, having an autonomy of 80 kilometers per charge.
