The Lamborghini Cala Concept was supposed to be produced before of the Gallardo. It was designed by Italdesign and it was presented at the Geneva auto show in March of 1995.

The Cala Concept was supposed to replace the Jalpa, which stopped construction in 1988. The concept was fully functional and it was equipped with a 3,9 liter V10 engine producing 408 hp, with the power passing to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox, with the car having a top speed of 291 km/h.
The Cala never went to production and instead the Gallardo was presented, that was the entry-level model of Lamborghini.
