Back in 1997 Pontiac presented at the Detroit auto show, the Rageous Concept, in an effort to show the futuristic side of muscle cars. The car was equipped with a V8 engine, a distinct spoiler and three-spoke rims.

The “fiery red sports machine,” as it was called by Pontiac, tried to combine performance with practicality. The prototype had folding front passenger seats and a huge cargo area (1,387 liters by folding the rear seats), the floor of which was covered with rubber which was resistant to dirt and could also be washed. It also had more than ten U-shaped pockets and hooks which ensured the safe transport of things.

Its interior featured a head-up display with a ball mouse at the wheel through which many vehicle functions were controlled.

It was equipped with a 5.7 liter V8 engine which produced 315 hp with 454 Nm of torque, that passed to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual gearbox, with the car being able to reach 96 km/h from a standstill in 5.5 seconds. Unfortunately it never passed in production.
