Opel revealed the most extreme, hardcore, fast, lightweight Astra OPC, which will make its debut at the Geneva Motor Show.
The OPC EXTREME is 100 kilos lighter than the standard OPC thanks to extensive use of carbon fiber. The bonnet, roof and wheels are made of carbon and they weigh 20 kilos less than the conventional alloy wheels. The fenders are made of aluminum and they weighs just 800 grams compared to 2.2 kilos that the steel fenders weight. The roof weighs just 2.6 kilos compared to 9.3 kilos of the normal roof, while carbon is of course used or the spoiler, diffuser, front spoiler, some cross-bracing of the suspension and the engine cover.
It will be equipped with a turbocharged, two liter four-cylinder engine producing at least 300 hp. The car will be front wheel drive. The gearbox remains the stock 6 speed manual , but the drive shaft is equipped with a limited slip differential. For braking the Astra EXTREME will use Brembo six piston calipers brakes with discs with a diameter of 370mm. The wheels will be 19 inch and they will have tires measuring 245/35/19.
At the interior the rear seats have been replaced by a roll-bar while the front seats are Recaro with 6 point Schroth belts. The steering wheel is reinforced with carbon and dressed in suede with yellow stitching.
Opel released no performance details for the Astra OPC Extreme but for sure it is going to be much faster than the simple Astra OPC. It is rumoured that the Opel Astra OPC EXTREME will go into limited production but the price is still unknown.
