Mazda brought to Paris the brand new MX-5, but unfortunately for all of us who were expecting some additional information on the specifications, the numbers of the small roadster are yet a well-kept secret.
The only news for the MX-5 is that the European version will be equipped with a naturally aspirated, four-cylinder 1.5 liter SkyActiv engine, which will be combined with six-speed manual gearbox. The American MX-5 on the other hand, will be equipped with a two-liter SkyActiv engine and the same gearbox The Japanese company has not announced any horsepower of the engines, but we expect that the 1.5 liter will probably deliver 100 hp.
Anyway, given that the roadster’s weight has been reduced by at least 100 kilos compared to its predecessor, it will not have to produce many hp to reach the horsepower/kg ratio of the NC version.
The length of the new MX-5 is 10.5 centimeters less than its predecessor. The suspension consists of double wishbone at the front wheels, and a multi-link arrangement at the rear. Finally, the price of the 2016 Mazda MX-5, will be announced close its launch on the market, which we expect to be in the summer of 2015.
