Skoda presented the new Fabia in Paris. The car is based on the MQB platform and it will be available with two petrol and two diesel engines.
On the basis of the range there will be the1 liter three-cylinder MPI engine with 60 hp and the 1.2 liter three cylinder TSI, producing up to 110 hp. On the diesel side, there is a new three-cylinder 1,4 L common-rail engine with an aluminum block, producing 75 and 105 hp. Later towards the end of 2015, a GreenLine version will be added with a 75 hp engine, which has a start/stop system, kinetic energy recovery system, low friction tires and some aerodynamic modifications that will allow the new Fabia to consume just 3.1 liters/100 km, with emissions at 82 g/km of CO2.
The interior features a three-spoke steering wheel, trapezoidal air vents, metal decorations and infotainment system with touchscreen and MirrorLink technology that allows the driver to access his smartphone and use it via the touch-screen infotainment system. The available space in the cabin has grown by 8 mm, reaching 1.674mm, while the trunk space is 330 liters (15 liters more), which after folding the rear seats to reaches 1,150 liters.
The new Fabia will be offered in 15 different colors and 3 trim levels, the customer can choose a different color for the roof, wheels and mirrors. Production has already started from August 28, with sales expected to begin in early 2015.
