In 2012 a group of British businessmen revived the idea to make the world’s smallest production car, with the Peel P50 and Peel Trident be delivered to their new owners. One of those owners wanted to do something more with his small car, so he equipped his Peel Trident with a jet engine and went straight to Santa Pod to do some drag racing.
The car made a time of 23.3 sec on the quarter-mile, with an output speed of 126.2 km/h, very impressive … number for the data of the car. The factory car is equipped with a two-stroke 50 ml gasoline engine producing 3.35 hp with a top speed of 31 km/h, but is also available with two other motors. One producing 1.6 hp with 3.4 Nm torque able to give it a top speed of 25 km/hour and a range around 80 km, with the second to produce 4 hp and a top speed of 45 km/hour and an 80 km range. The car’s weight is 160 kg.
