Porsche officially unveiled the 911 Targa 4 and 4S in this year’s North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
It combines the classical design of Targa versions with innovative technology in the roof opening. Being inspired by the first 1965 Targa , the new model features a movable front portion of the roof and a draped back window. The part of the roof can be opened and closed with the touch of a button within 19 sec and stored fully automatically behind the rear seats, only when the car is stationary.
The car will be only available on four-wheel drive versions characterized by wider rear track and more inflated wings. The 911 Targa 4 is equipped with a 6 cylinder 3.4 liter boxer engine producing 350 hp, that allows the car to have a top speed of 280 km/h and accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.6 sec (with the PDK and the Sport Chrono Package). Similarly , the 911 Targa 4S is equipped with a 3.8 liter engine producing 400 hp and it does the 0-100 km/h in 4.2 seconds with a top speed of 293 km/h .
Deliveries of the 911 Targa will begin in the summer, the Targa 4 will have a starting price in America from $ 101.600, and the Targa 4S from $ 116.200. In Germany it will go on sale from May.
