Land Rover unveiled officially the Range Rover Evoque Convertible, the “first luxury convertible SUV in the world.” The model, features a fabric roof, that can close or open at speeds up to 48 km/h. The closing takes 18 seconds while the opening 21.
The model is 270 kilos heavier than the closed version, because of the mechanism for opening and closing the roof and additional weight added to increase the car’s stiffness. It is also worth noting that the space of the luggage compartment, has a capacity of 251 liters whether the roof is down, or up.
The Range Rover Evoque Convertible, is available with two engines, a 2 liter, four-cylinder, turbocharged Si4 petrol engine that delivers 240 hp and 340 Nm of torque and also a 2 liter, four-cylinder, turbocharged, TD4 diesel engine of 180 hp and 480 Nm of torque. The two engines are combined exclusively with a 9-speed automatic transmission of ZF and an all-wheel drive system.
The cabin, can accommodate 4 people and it features the new InControl Touch Pro infotainment system of Land Rover. The system uses a touch screen of 10.2 inches and it offers smartphone integration, navigation, 3G connectivity and an excellent sound system. Also in the field of security, Land Rover has equipped the Evoque Convertible with a new airbag system.
Finally, the Range Rover Evoque Convertible, will be manufactured at the plant of the company in Halewood, England and when its sales begin in spring of 2016, it will be available in 2 versions, the HSE Dynamic and the HSE Dynamic LUX with prices starting from £47,500 in England.
