Ford is preparing the Shelby GT500 Mustang for a long period, with the latest rumors, saying that the car will be equipped with a 5.2-liter supercharged V8, producing over 800 hp, in order to compete with the Dodge Charger and Challenger.
Currently Ford has on their range the Shelby GT350 Mustang and GT350R, yielding 526 hp with 581 Nm torque. Rumors from other sources, claim also that the GT500 will be equipped with the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 twin-turbo of the new Ford GT, but this is less probable.
The Shelby GT500 Mustang will have an aggressive body kit, a sports suspension and high-performance brakes. Its presentation will take place in 2017, at the Detroit auto show.
