In last year’s Frankfurt auto show, the Korean company presented the XAV Concept and according to rumors the car, will go into production in 2019. It will be based on the platform of the Tivoli and it is expected to have the same 1.6 liter gasoline and diesel engines.
The concept had a hybrid electric E-4WD system which is expected to pass in production since the company wants to offer more environmentally friendly models such as the market requirements are dictating. This system had lithium ion batteries of 2.1 kWh that gave power to the rear wheels, while the engine powered the front wheels.
In appearance, the car has several influences from the old Korrando mk2 maintaining a more off-road appearance. This means that it will have an increased ground clearance and other features, found in the most “hardcore” four-wheel drive vehicles, with its length reaching 4.4 meters.
With this model, the company may be able to return to profitability after its acquisition by Mahindra, five years ago. The company is preparing also the new generation of the Korrando and in 2018 they will present a new pick-up that will replace the Korrando Sports.
