Volkswagen C Coupe GTE concept

Volkswagen presented the C Coupe GTE concept. The car is a different version of the Sport Coupe Concept GTE, that was presented at the Geneva auto show. It is longer than five meters and it has been designed and developed by VW, for the Chinese market.

Volkswagen C Coupe GTE conceptThe C Coupe GTE concept is a foretaste of the design language of future high-end sedan models of VW, like the next Passat CC, which is expected to go on sale in 2017.

It is based on the MLB platform, it is bigger than the current CC and it also has a longer wheelbase and a liftback design. The length of the car reaches 5.072 mm, its width is 1.930 mm and its wheelbase reaches 3.015 mm.

Its interior faetures a 12.3 inch screen, which acts as the instrument panel, while the center console features a 10.1 inch screen. As for the rear passengers, they have access to two screens on the backs of the front seats. Finally, it is worth mentioning that the navigation system interacts with the  driver’s smartwatch to “read” the mood of the owner and to choose the best route.

It is equipped with a plug-in hybrid system consisting of a 2 liter TSI petrol engine, combined with an electric motor, located on the 8-speed automatic gearbox. The petrol engine produces 210 hp, while the electric motor delivers 91 kW (124 hp). Together the system delivers 245 hp with 500 Nm torque, with the 0-100 km/h coming in 8.6 seconds, with the car having a top speed of 230 km/h.

The lithium-ion batteries supply energy to the electric motor, which has a range of 50 kilometers, with the total range of the car being over 800 km.
