Peugeot presented the brand new 108, which for the first time will be offered as a cabrio.The new 108 weighs just 840 kilos having the smallest weigh in its category.
It will be offered as a three-door, five-door and as a cabrio soft top with a roof made by fabric, in the style of the Citroen DS3 Cabrio.
Compared with the outgoing model, the 108 has a much fresher design, thanks to elements borrowed from the 308. The brand new 108 has a length of 3.47 meters and a width of 1.62 meters while its turning circle is just 9.6 meters, which makes it ideal for driving in town.
The car will be available with two three-cylinder engines, a 1 liter engine with 68 hp that can be combined with Start & Stop system to reduce emissions, while having a 5-speed automatic transmission at the extras (the manual is standard with the same relations). In addition, there is a 1.2 liter PureTech VTi with 82 hp which is also combined with a 5 – speed manual gearbox. Thanks to its small capacity, the engine technology and the low weight of the car, the car emits no more than 99 gr/km of CO2.
The 2014 Peugeot 108 stands on 14 inch rims with tires measuring 165/65 or 15-inch wheels with tires measuring 165/60. All versions will have the hill assist system as a standard. The car features brakes with 247mm ventilated discs at the front axle and 200mm rear drum brakes as standard equipment while at the standard equipment there are also systems such as ABS, ESP, electronic brake distribution and Emergency Collision Braking.
Unfortunately at this point there are no pictures of the interior but according to Peugeot, the cabin is equipped with automatic climate control, a 7-inch touchscreen, six airbags and electric power steering.
The official presentation of the 2014 Peugeot 108 will be made next month at the Geneva Motor Show and sales will begin in the summer.
