Hyundai unveiled in South Korea, the brand new 2015 Sonata. The new Hyundai Sonata is 35 mm longer and 30 mm wider than its predecessor. The length reaches 4.855 mm, the width 1.865 mm and the height 1.475 mm while the wheelbase is 2.805 mm.
According to Hyundai, the new Sonata has 41 % more torsional rigidity which benefits the safety and the driveability are obvious. The suspension consists of traditional on front axle McPherson struts while the rear suspension is a multi-link arrangement. The 2015 Sonata, stands on alloy wheels from 16 to 18 inches depending on the version.
It will be available with a two-liter CVVL petrol engine producing 168 hp and 201 Nm of torque, or a 2.4 GDi with 193 hp and 247 Nm of torque, or a two-liter LPi with 151 hp and 194 Nm of torque. The power will be transmitted to the front wheels via a 6-speed manual (automatic offered as an extra) box.
The interior, has improved ergonomics and the space available for passengers (with luggage to reaching 462 liters) is significantly bigger. Thus, the cabin is luxurious, while special emphasis has been given to safety, equipping the model with six airbags , ABS, EBD, ESP and TCS. The Sonata can also be equipped with Advanced Smart Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning System, Blind Spot Detection, etc.
The debut of the new Sonata will be made on April 16, during a press conference of Hyundai in the New York International Auto Show. Sales of the 2015 Hyundai Sonata will begin after the summer.
