Kia revealed the first pictures and details of the new generation of the Sorento will debut at the Paris Exhibition early in October.
The Korean crossover is characterized by an evolutionary design, it looks more dynamic, curved, muscular and more luxurious than its predecessor, adopting the latest design language of Kia. It features thin light fixture, LED daytime running lights, roof rails, slightly sloping roof line, large alloy wheels, spoiler and twin tailpipes. The length reaches 4.780 mm, height 1.685 mm while the wheelbase has grown by 80 mm, reaching 2.780 mm.
Kia has not released yet photos of the interior, except a sketch, but the press release says we should expect “many innovative features.” Promising to “raise the bar in the category of luxury,” the dashboard will be dressed with soft materials and a “series of advanced on-board technologies.” The interior is a result of the design team the KIA, which is based in Frankfurt. The simple layout of the dashboard is combined with a three-spoke steering wheel and a wide leather center armrest, while the rear seat passengers benefit from centrally mounted vents. There is also a fairly large size touch screen with an infotainment system that monitors various parameters.
The Sorento will be available with a 2.0 liter turbo four-cylinder petrol engine, a 2.2 liter CRDI turbodiesel, a 2.4 liter petrol engine, a 3.3 liter GDI V6 engine and a hybrid 2.3 liter that works with an electric motor which is powered by a lithium-ion battery of 47 kWh. It will be officially presented at the end of the month in South Korea, with the world debut expected to be in Paris in October, with sales to begin in late 2014 or early 2015.
