That this would happen was given, what we did not know was when. Thus, from January 1, 2016, each non German that uses the network of highways in the country, with a total length of more than 3,750 km, will be forced to pay tolls.
This was stated by the Minister of Transport of Germany , Alexander Dobrindt, the cost for 10 days amounts to 10 euros for 2 months at 30 euros , while the annual fee is calculated at 100 euros. The Germans do not pay tolls for the use of motorways, since the state collects money for their maintenance through taxes, everyone else that crosses the highways of Germany must somehow contribute to them.
This idea is part of the deal that has been made by the conservative Chancellor Angela Merkel and the Social Democrats, and despite intense criticism from other Member States of the European Union. Nevertheless, the German ADAC auto club has said that this measure would not be enough to cover the maintenance costs of the highways, generating questions about the real reason that German politicians want to implement it.
