Through a video-presentation, Volkswagen confirmed the production of the Beetle Dune in 2016, which will also be available as a convertible. Two years before the start of production, the details of the production model are practically non-existent. Just to mention that as a concept, it was wider than the conventional Beetle R-Line and had a higher ground clearance. It rested on 19 inch alloy wheels, while under the bonnet it was equipped with a turbocharged two-liter, four-cylinder 210 hp engine.
