The first generation of the Hyundai Sonata, was presented in 1985, which means that this year the model celebrates its 30th anniversary. The first generation was just a normal car that was affordable and economic.
As the years went by, the Sonata improved. The fifth generation was launched in the market in 2004 and the Sonata was still a “normal” car, but the turning point came five years later, with the sixth generation that went into production in 2009. It was then that the car grew in popularity.
The seventh and last generation was presented at the New York auto show in 2014. From 1985 to today, Hyundai has sold over 7.3 million Sonata, with more than 2.3 million of them being in the US.
