Jaguar unveiled in Frankfurt the C-X17 Concept, the prototype SUV which will go to production in 2015. The new work of Ian Callum, Jaguar’s chief designer borrows some of the rear lights of the F-Type and the futuristic interior can carry four passengers in leather seats. In the center console there is a large touchscreen display , while rear passengers have a touch screen incorporated in the central armrest , which among other things provides access to the internet and social media.
It is made on the new aluminum architecture of Jaguar. The new chassis is extremely light, extremely rigid and of exceptionally high strength while being very flexible , so it can be used to manufacture several models of Jaguar. It has a length of 4.718 mm, width of 1.959 mm, height of 1.649 mm and wheelbase of 2.905mm. Mechanically it will be available with a range of engines , which can reach a top speed of over 300 km/h, emitting just 100 gr/km of CO2 .
It will be equipped with engines of Jaguar-Land Rover, among them there will be a 2.0 liter turbo petrol engine producing 240 hp , a 3.0 -liter V6 petrol engine with compressor producing 340 hp , a 2.2 liter turbodiesel producing 163 and 220 hp , a 3.0 liter V6 diesel with 240 hp and a new 4-cylinder engine Hotfire engine, which will be manufactured at the new plant of JLR in Wolverhampton. Quite likely the car will also be available with a hybrid version. The power will be transferred to the rear wheels , while all-wheel drive will b included on the extra equippment.
The British SUV is expected to be called XQ or Q-Type and will be manufactured at the Land Rover plant in Solihull , England. It will go on sale in 2015-2016 , and it will be like a coupe-crossover like the BMW X4 and not a hardcore offroader which is not consistent with the values of the company.
