The only hypercar located at the 65th Frankfurt Motor Show is the Porsche 918 Spyder.
It produces 887 hp with 917 Nm to 1.280 Nm of torque , depending on gear ratio. It can complete the 0-100 km/hour in 2.8 seconds , the 0-200 km/h in 7.7 seconds , the 0 to 302 km/h in 22 seconds and it has a top speed of 345 km/hour. Just 918 cars will be produced,
It weighs 1,634 kg ( with the Weissach package) and has 57 % weight distribution on the rear axle and 43 % on the front . Porsche has come up with extreme solutions such as galvanized carbon, carbon bars and others, it has five modes: E-Power, Hybrid, Sport Hybrid, Race Hybrid and Hot Lap having average consumption of 3 to 3.3 L/100 km !
It is equipped with a 4.6 liter eight-cylinder engine producing 608 bhp at 8,700 rpm and it has a rev limiter at 9,150 rpm it is combined with two electric motors producing an overall 210 kW (286 horsepower ) ,with the one placed in front to produce 95 kW (130 horses) .
The motors are powered by a battery pack of 6,8 kWh with 315 cells. These charge through simple household outlet in 4 hours, but using a quick charger , the time is reduced to just 25 minutes. Porsche claims that the 918 Spyder is faster than the LaFerrari and McLaren P1 under conditions. When the program E-Power is selected, the 918 Spyder does 0-100 km/h in less than 7 seconds having a top speed of 150 km/h.
It has a 7-speed PDK transmission with Electric Porsche Traction Managemen, Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus, it has a Start/Stop system and fuel saving program called “Sailing”. It stands on a 20 inch front wheels with tires measuring 265/30 and 21 inch rear with tires 325/30 . The brakes are carbon ceramic discs with 410 mm in front and 6 piston calipers and 390 mm rear with 4 piston calipers . The lights of the body could not be anything less than LED, front to back. It has a length of 4.643 mm, width of 1.940 mm, height of 1.167 mm and a 2.730 mm wheelbase .
It weighs 1,669 kilos, the tank capacity is 70 liters , while the boot reaches 110 liters. The optional Weissach package ( at a cost of 65,000 euros) saves 35 kilos of weight due to the widespread use of carbon, titanium , magnesium and ceramics in many parts of the car and features a thinner layer of paint . The rims are magnesium and the wiring which is responsible for the use of an external quick charger has been removed. Inside it has no sound system, air conditioning with the seats being covered with cloth and not leather. In addition there is a carbon package consisting of carbon pedal straps instead of handles and different panels inside doors without pockets and armrests . Also it has no carpet on the floor, no central console, no glovebox and has no carpet in the boot . With all these changes, the 918 Spyder with Weissach package , shaves two seconds round the Nürburgring in comparison to the simple version.
In terms of equipment. A rapid charger is available , leather upholstery , Burmester 500 Watt audio system with 11 speakers, a TFT 8 inch screen while an additional 23,800 euros gives the customer the ability to dress the car with genuine leather with a special structure made in Germany.
It will be exclusively available in LHD as the Porsche Carrera GT and it’s price will start from 768,026 euros or 839,426 euros when provided with the Weissach package . The magnesium wheels cost 29,750 euros, while the thin paint 11,900 euros (reduced weight by 2.5 kg ) . With 47,600 euros you can paint the car with “liquid metal” paint, while the combination of liquid metal and thin paint ,costs 59,500 euros.
If you intended to use it as an everyday car and you are afraid of bumps then with 8,925 euros , you can place an electro-hydraulic lift system . The 20 kW quick charger costs 20,230 euros and charges the car in 2.5 hours. Finally, if one of the owners wants to pick up the car himself from the Leipzig plant , he will have to pay an extra 6,545 euros.
