At the Geneva Motor Show, Opel will present a racing version of the OPEL Adam which will meet the R2 requirements of FIA.
The completion of the vehicle as well as the approval are estimated in 2013. The ADAM R2 will be available for international rallying individuals and it would be able to compete in any national championship in Europe.
The ADAM R2 will have specifications same as the Opel OPC range, with quick release mechanisms on the hood and tailgate, and protections of the lower section at the front and at the rear.
The ADAM R2 will use the 1.6 ECOTEC 16V with variable camshaft timing that delivers 185 hp and a maximum torque of 190 Nm. The power is transferred via a serial five-speed Sadev transmission and a limited-slip differential with multi-plate clutch. It will aslo be equipped with a hydraulic fly-off handbrake, 4 piston Brembo front calipers and adjusting brake pressure on the rear axle.
The cabin of the R2 has the characteristics of a professional racing car and many items are already included in the version that will be competing this year at FIA, the International Automobile Federation. The equipment includes: integrated security structure, racing SPARCO Competition seats, an LCD display with speed shift indicators, a MONIT trip computer, central control panel and an electrical extinguisher.
The R2 is based on the new version of ADAM Cup variant.At the 2013 season, up to 40 ADAM Cup cars will compete in single races in Germany and France.
