It is the first time that Seat will produce the in a three door version and in relation to the five-door version it has a sloping roofline and new front LED lights. It will be available as an FR Cupra and Cupra R versions in order to be placed opposite other hot hatchbacks such as the 3 door Golf GTI. A little later, in September 2013 the ST (wagon version) of Leon will be presented.Its length is 4.23 meters and has a shorter wheelbase by 35 mm with a luggage space of 380 liters.

Engines will include a wide range of TSI and TDI engines from 1,200 cc to 2,000 cc with performance from 86 to 184 hp. All engines feature direct injection and turbo, the fuel consumption has been reduced by 22% compared to the average consumption of the previous generation.

The 1.6 liter TDI engine produces 105 hp with 250 Nm torque. It has an average fuel consumption of 3.8 l/100 km and emits just 99 g/km of CO2. The 2.0 liter TDI Ecomotive produces 150 hp with 320 Nm of torque and a consumption of just 4.1 l/100 km
In terms of gasoline there is the 1.4 liter TSI with 122 hp and 200 Nm of torque. It has an average fuel consumption of 5.2 l/100 km and 120 g/km of CO2 emissions. The 1.2 liter TSI will be available in two versions, 86 and 105 hp respectively.
The 1.8 liter TSI delivers 180 hp with 250 Nm of torque. Finally, the three-door Leon will be equipped with a 1.6 liter TDI with 90 hp and the new 2.0 liter TDI with 184 hp and 380 Nm of torque. Later a 2.0 liter TSI will be added and the new 1.4 liter TSI with cylinder deactivation system.

The power is transferred to the front axle via either manual 5 and 6 speed gearboxes depending on engine or via the 6 and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic DSG gearbox.
Thanks to the MQB platform, the front axle was placed 40 mm further forward, increasing thus the wheelbase but also achieving a better weight distribution, thus improving the comfort and sporty handling of the new Leon. The front suspension consists of MacPherson struts with a subframe and multi-link at the rear.
The FR version features sports bumpers, large wheels and the new SEAT Drive Profile changing the stiffness of the steering, throttle response and the sound of the engine via a button with three options, eco, comfort and sport. There is also the option to change the illumination of the interior LEDs from white to red. It also features a system that informs you whenever you change lanes, automatic high beam and drowsiness detection system.
