The Los Angeles auto show, like any major car show features impressive premieres and cool concept cars. However, the coolest car was the hotrod of the frontman of Metallica, James Hetfield.
The car is named Black Pearl and are it is made completely from scratch, without relying on a brand or model, and it features a handcrafted body inspired by the curves and teardrop shaped European and American classic cars of the 1930s.
The Black Pearl was constructed with the help of Marcel and Luc De Lay, two of the top coach builders in the world. It is painted in a deep black, with brushed brass finishes to make contrast, the interior is styled by Ron Mangus Interiors and it has a sporty style.
The Black Pearl is based on a custom chassis using parts of a 1948 Jaguar Mk 4, equipped with a 5 liter V8 engine of the Ford producing 375 hp, combined with a 4-speed automatic transmission, also from Ford.
