BMW officially revealed the X4, the new Sport Activity Coupe of which will be placed against the equally new Porsche Macan and the Range Rover Evoque.
The production model is certainly a more conventional design in comparison to the concept. Based on the X3 it uses the sporty design philosophy X6. A characteristic feature of the exterior of the new X4 is the aggressive front end with its imposing grille and large air intakes in the bumper, below the front lights it features special fog lights.
Further back, the roof reaches its maximum height just above the driver from that point the design is the same as a design of a classic sport coupe, leaning downwards. The highlight of the exterior are the external LED rear lights in an L shape. The X4 is 14 mm longer and 36 mm lower than the X3.
The cabin is a classic BMW cabin. Simple lines, quality materials and a few details to break the monotony. The driver sits 20mm lower than the X3, while the rear seats fold 40:20:40 and when they do, the capacity of the luggage, reaches to 1,400 liters.
The X4 will be available with six very good BMW engines (three petrol and three diesel). Topping the range is the xDrive35i with the 3 liter TwinPower Turbo diesel engine producing 306 hp and 400 Nm of torque. The 100km/h from standstill is achieved in 5.5 seconds and the fuel consumption is 10.7/6.9/8.3 liters/100 km (local/long distance/mixed).
Equally impressive is the xDrive35d which is equipped with a 3 liter turbodiesel producing 313 hp and 630 Nm of torque. The 100 Km/h comes in 5.2 seconds and the fuel consumption is 6.7/5.5/6.0 liters/100 km, a de-tuned version of the xDrive30d will also be available with 258 hp and 560 Nm of torque. Finally, the xDrive20d will be equipped with a two-liter turbo diesel producing 190 hp and 400Nm of torque while consuming 5.8/5.1/5.4 liters of fuel per 100 km, the same consumption as the two liter TwinPower Turbo petrol engine with 184 hp (xDrive20i) or 245 hp (xDrive28i).
Available in X4 will be the BMW ConnectedDrive system which among many other security systems, it includes a head-up display, Collision Warning System and the extra ConnectedDrive Services.
