Cadillac presented officially the XT5, the crossover that will replace the SRX. The model will make its debut at the Dubai exhibition and the Los Angeles auto show later this month.
Stylistically it features LED daytime running lights, a large chrome grille and chrome roof rails. Its interior has high-quality materials it can be configured in five different color combinations, while it also has aluminum, carbon and wooden decorations.
The space for rear passengers has grown by 8.1 cm compared to the SRX, while the additional equipment includes a Head-Up Display and the Driver Awareness and Driver Assist packages that add security features such as an automatic braking system and the Lane Keeping Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Side Blind Zone Alert systems.
The car will be available with a 3.6 liter V6 engine producing 318 hp with 365 Nm of torque, with a half cylinder deactivation system and variable valve timing. In China the XT5 will be offered with a 2 liter four-cylinder turbo engine. Both engines will be combined with an 8 speed automatic transmission with Electronic Precision Shift.
The XT5 is based on new, C1XX platform of the company and it weighs 126 kilos less than the SRX (1.814 kilos for the front-wheel drive version and 1,940 kilos for the four-wheel drive one). It also weighs 45 kilos less than the Audi Q5 and 295 kilos less than the Mercedes GLE. Its length is 4.815 mm, its height is 1.675 mm and its wheelbase reaches 2.857 mm. Its production will start in the spring of 2016 and it will be available in Europe from the summer of 2016.
