Ferrari in a surprise move revealed the Portofino, which is the successor of the California T, prior to its official debut at the Frankfurt auto show. The car will be the new entry-level model of the Italian brand and it will be powered by a 3.9-liter V8 engine with two turbos, which produces 600 hp and 760 Nm of torque from 3,000 to 5,200 rpm.
The company said that the V8 engine of the car now has new pistons and connecting rods and a completely redesigned intake manifold. The Portofino can reach 100 km/h from standstill in just 3.5 seconds, with its top speed touching 320 km/h.
The car has a new exhaust system and the Variable Boost Management system that adjusts torque between gear shifts. Other improvements over the California T include the integration of a new electronic differential of Ferrari, while the suspension of the car has also been upgraded significantly. However the most significant diversification of the new model is the new alloy frame.
From an aesthetic point of the Portofino is much more beautiful than the California T, its design inspiration originates from the new 812 Superfast and it is stylish and aggressive at the same time, with a sharp and imposing front.
The cockpit of the new Portofino is far more distinctive than that of the California T. More details of the car will be revealed in the Frankfurt auto show.
