Ford has published a teaser photo of the Focus Electric and they also announced that they will invest approximately $4.5 billion to extend their range of electric cars by 2020. The CEO of the company, Mark Fields said that this is the biggest investment which has been made in the history of electric cars and that it will enable Ford to add 13 new electric models to its range.

The plan of the company includes traditional hybrid, plug-in hybrid and purely electric cars. Fields even said that his company believes that “plug-in hybrid will be the category with the highest growth until 2018”. If all goes according to plan, more than 40% of Ford’s range worldwide will be offered in hybrid or electric versions.
The first product of the plan will be the renewed Focus Electric, which will be launched in 2016. The model will feature a “fast-charge” system which will enable it to charge to 80% in only 30 minutes.
