In both version, the torque is the same at 350 Nm, and remains stable from 1,700 rpm up to 5,600 rpm. The engine is available with either a six-speed manual gearbox, or with the classic, automatic dual-clutch DSG. With the DSG, the Leon ST Cupra reaches the 100 km/h from standstill in 6.1 seconds, while the ST Cupra 280, is 0.1 seconds faster.

With the manual gearbox, both versions are 0.1 seconds slower at 0-100 km/h. Regardless of version, the top speed of the  Leon ST, is electronically limited to 250 km/h. Also regardless of version, the model consumes on average 6.6 liters of fuel with the DSG and 6.7 with the manual transmission.

The new model of Seat, is equipped with the Dynamic Chassis Control system, which is capable of changing the characteristics of the frame within a few milliseconds so that they match the way in which the vehicle is moving.

It is also equipped also with an electronically controlled differential lock that improves traction and handling, while it succeeds to eliminate the torque-steer without having a negative effect on the sense of “progressive” steering. The standard equipment, except the above, features LED lights (front and rear), sport seats covered with Alcantara, the Media System Plus with a 6.5 inch touch screen and LED backlight.
