Land Rover officially unveiled the Discovery Vision Concept. The British company with this concept shows the design direction for the future of the whole Discovery range, the design seems like the combination of the Evoque and the Ford Explorer, avoiding the sharp and hard lines of the previous generation of the Discovery.

It has smaller light fixtures, with a sporty profile. The split tailgate has been replaced by a single one, which when opened allows a platform to slide out, in order to facilitate loading large items.
Stylistically we see that Land Rover has eliminated the middle column with the doors open facing each other, the mask is quite rounded, while the light fixtures are “embracing” the fenders. Also we see vents in the front fenders and an angular rear pillar.

Inside there is room for 7 passengers, with 2-3-2 layout , with the second and third row of seats to be independent, and to create a completely flat surface when folded. The cabin has all the futuristic elements a concept must have, featuring a large touch screen with the materials used being very qualitative.

It promises ” unparalleled ability and absolute versatility! while the company says we can expect “innovative technology ” and ” advanced technologies aimed at new audiences”. Finally, we know that it will come equipped with a ” transparent ” hood , which will go in production in the future, allowing the driver to see what is underneath the car. The technology uses cameras mounted in the grille, which highlight the image in the head-up display, thus creating the illusion of a transparent hood.

The Land Rover will unveil the brand new Discovery later this year, which will replace the 5 seater Freelander. It is based on the platform of the Evoque, with rumors saying that the new Discovery will have a special off-road version, so as to compete with the Toyota Land Cruiser. The new Discovery will be built on a new aluminum platform and it is expected to cost between €45,000 and €65,000 in England.
