Lotus unveiled the Exige 350 Special Edition, which completes the celebration of 50 years of operation of the factory of the British company in Hethel.
The car is based on the Sport 350, which already had a reduced weight by 51 kilos, with that of the Exige 350 Special Edition to be further reduced by 26 kilos.
The car features a panel with louvers in the engine cover, a lighter battery, new lighter engine mounts, a new lighter central console, lighter pipes for the air conditioning system and better sound insulation materials. The 26 kilos have been removed from the vehicle through the use of forged wheels (5 kg lighter), a lithium-ion battery (10 kg lighter), carbon seats (6 kg lighter) and disc brakes (5 kg lighter).
Thus, the total weight of the car is now 1,099 kilos, with the engine remaining unchanged. The car is equipped with a 3.5-liter V6 supercharged engine producing 345 hp with 400 Nm of torque, combined with a manual transmission that enables it to do the 0-100 km/h in 3.7 seconds, while the car’s top speed reaches 274 km/h.
The Exige 350, has tighter shock absorbers an improved geometry, better handling, more responsivenes to steering commands and a lowered center of gravity. All of these enhancements reduced by 2.5 seconds, the car’s lap time on the test track of Lotus, compared to the time of the Exige S.
The Lotus Exige 350 Special Edition will be produced in a limited production of 50 cars and it is already available for order, with its price in England starting from £61,900.
