The Can-Am or Canadian-American Challenge Cup was a historic, impressive, popular championship of the 60s and 70s and McLaren had participated many times in it and won five consecutive championships. So, 50 years after the first season of the Can-Am, McLaren Special Operations presented the 650S Can-Am.
The car has a roof, hood, front splitter, part of the rear bumper, the air brake, part of the doors and rocker panels that are made of carbon fiber. It stands on special forged alloy wheels with a black center and a chrome rim.
The 650S Can-Am comes equipped with carbon-ceramic brakes with black calipers and a specially developed exhaust system with quad exhaust tailpipes. Mechanically it is equipped with a 3.8 liter twin-turbo V8 engine that delivers 650 hp and 678 Nm of torque, which enables it to do the 0-100 km/h in only 3 seconds, having a top speed of 329 km/h.
Customers can choose between three colors (Mars Red, Papaya Spark and Onyx Black). The interior of the car features leather and Alcantara, decorations of carbon fiber and a special tag on the driver’s door.
McLaren will build just 50 650S Can-Am, which will be sold worldwide at price starting at € 350,000.
