McLaren has confirmed that it plans a new mid engine, 2-seater supercar for 2017 which will be based on the P1, but it will be mass produced and it will probably be hybrid.
McLaren a new model, the P15, is going to hit the market in 2017.. In particular, the new supercar will adopt several elements from P1, like the P1’s monocoque carbon fiber.
Meanwhile, rumors say that the new P15 will be powered – like the P1- by a hybrid set, which will likely come from Honda. Bear in mind, also, that under the hood of the McLaren P1 there is a hybrid system, which consists of a twin turbocharged 3.8 liter V8 engine and an electric motor producing 179 hp and 260 Nm of torque. The overall performance of the model reaches 916 hp and 900 Nm of torque.
Finally, what became known is that the P15 will be produced in mass production, not as the P1 and therefore the price is going to be more “affordable”.
