Daimler and the Renault-Nissan group confirmed that the pickup of Mercedes will be based on the Nissan Navara.

The car will be built by Nissan’s factories in Barcelona (Spain) and Cordoba (Argentina), will use the same platform as the Navara. The model will also be available in a double cab configuration.
Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of Daimler said:
“Entering quickly in the segment of mid-size pick-up is an important step in our policy of global growth. Thanks to our new partnership signed with the Renault-Nissan alliance, we will be able to reduce time and cost to enter this key segment. “
