Mercedes presented the Maybach S-Class (S600) at the Los Angeles auto show. The Maybach S600 features as standard equipment the following packages: Air-Balance, Robbe & Berking champagne glasses, panoramic Magic Sky Control sunroof, picnic tables, Burmester 3D stereo sound system and Designo leather.
The length of the car is 5.453 mm, with a wheelbase of 3.365 mm, 20 cm longer than the S-Class LWB. The rear passengers have more space and sit in reclining chairs. The quality of materials is very high, featuring high quality leather, real wood and chrome decorations. The rear doors have gotten smaller by 6.6 cm, so that the third side window can be placed onto the third column.
The Chauffeur package is offered as a standard and it creates an extra space of 7.5 cm for the legs of the rear passenger seat, which features a massage function The optional package Executive Rear Seat Package Plus adds air-conditioned cup holders and some visual changes.
Initially the car will be available in the versions S500 and S600. The first will be equipped with a 4,7 liter V8 bi-turbo producing 455 hp with 700 Nm of torque and the second one will be equipped with a 6,0 liter bi-turbo V12 engine producing 530 hp with 830 Nm of torque. Later a S600 4MATIC version will be added, which will be equipped with a 3 liter V6 engine producing 333 hp with 480 Nm of torque with the power pass on the road via all four wheels. All engines come with a seven-speed automatic transmission, the S500 and S600 can do the 0-100 km/h in 5 seconds, with a top speed of 250 km/h (electronically limited). Sales of the Maybach S-Class will start in Europe from February 2015.
