Back in 1992 Ford had presented at the Turin auto show the Ford Ghia Focus concept. The whole car was based on the Escort RS Cosworth and it had a smaller chassis. It was equipped with a 2-liter engine that delivered 227 hp, it had 4-wheel drive and a body entirely made of fiberglass that limited its weight to only 984 kilos.

Its designer was Taru Lahti. The two-seater roadster had a hard top removable roof, that could be stored in the back, and it was compatible also with a fabric roof.

Its interior featured a wooden floor with bolted sport seats, which together with the doors were covered with cowhide. Wood was also used to decorate the shifter, while the center console was covered with steel. The Ford Ghia Focus concept, was sold at an auction by the company in 2002, for $1 million, with the money given to charity.
