The new Kia Sorento made its European debut in Paris. The Korean crossover is characterized by an evolutionary design, looks more dynamic, curved, muscular and more luxurious than its predecessor, adopting the latest design language of Kia.
It has thin light fixtures, LED daytime running lights, roof rails, slightly sloping roof line, large alloy wheels, chrome decorations, spoiler and twin exhaust tailpipes. The body consists of 52.7% ultra-high strength steel, two times more compared with the figure of the previous generation.
The length reaches 4.780 mm, height 1.685 mm while the wheelbase has grown by 80 mm, reaching 2.780 mm. The interior has “many innovative features” the dashboard is lined with soft materials and a “series of advanced on-board technologies.” The interior is a result of the design team of KIA, which is based in Frankfurt, drawing inspiration from several elements of the modern Swiss watches.
The simple layout of the dashboard is combined with a three-spoke steering wheel and a wide leather center armrest, while rear seat passengers benefit from centrally mounted vents. There is also a fairly large size touch screen infotainment system that controls various parameters. The audio system is of JBL and the panoramic roof is made of CFRP. The luggage space is 515 liters in the version with seven seats, while in the five seat version it is 605 liters.
It will be available with a 2.0 liter turbo four-cylinder gasoline engine producing 185 hp with 402 Nm of torque, the 2.2 liter CRDI turbodiesel producing 200 hp with 441 Nm of torque, a 2.4 liter engine with 188 hp and 241 Nm of torque, a 3.3 liter GDI V6 engine and a 2.3 liter hybrid that works with an electric motor which is powered by a lithium-ion battery of 47 kWh.
