The Rally Dakar starts in a few months and Peugeot Sport unveiled the racing 2008 DKR16. Compared to its predecessor, the significantly refreshed 2008 DKR16 is 200 mm longer and 200 mm wider, while its height has been reduced.
Despite the significant increase in the length, the 2008 DKR16 is better equipped to cope with any kind of terrain. Also, the new rally car has more balanced aerodynamics.
The changes are not however limited to the dimensions and aerodynamics. Peugeot Sport has improved the weight distribution of the car, they have modified the suspension and they equip the 2008 DKR16 with magnesium alloy wheels and lighter tires of Michelin.
Finally its 3 liter twin-turbo V6 diesel engine is upgraded and it produces 350 hp with 800 Nm of torque. The car remains rear-wheel drive, with the power to be passed to the wheels via a six-speed serial gearbox.
