At this year’s Pebble Beach, RM Sotheby’s will auction the 400th Enzo, that Ferrari has built and gifted to Pope John Paul II.

The car has just traveled 179 km and it is one of the few Enzo painted in the Rosso Scuderia color, it has Daytona seats and a carbon spoiler. The Pope accepted the gift from Montezemolo and the other Ferrari executives at the Vatican in January of 2005. Thanking the guests for such a generous gift, ordered to be sold on behalf of the Vatican, with all proceeds going to the victims of tsunami that had ravaged the Southeast Asia just a few weeks ago. So the car returned to Maranello where it was auctioned in June of 2005, with 100% of the proceeds going to charity. Unfortunately, Pope John Paul II died in April, but Ferrari honored the promise they had given and gave to his successor, Pope Benedict XVI, control of the funds collected from the sale of the unique Enzo. The car left for America where it stayed in the hands of the same collector until today.
It is arguably the most desirable and historically significant Enzo, with the auction house to estimate that it will reach a price between $4 and $6 million.
